THE CURRICULUM REDESIGN OF DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH TEACHING 

Curriculum must exist at all levels of education. They range from elementary to higher ones. It includes a series of activities to achieve goals as determined by the vision and mission of the institution.

With the passion to serve the community and to graduate the competitive alumni, the Department of English Teaching of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) must always periodically redesign its curriculum, as its effort to meet the dynamic needs of society. Hence, in addition to support the existing mission and vision, redesigning the curriculum can be one of the strategic and dynamic activities to improve the quality and to rectify the shortcomings of this department.

The event of Curriculum Redesign was held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 started from 7.30 a.m. in Meeting Room I, 2nd floor of campus I UNIPMA, Jl. Setiabudi no. 85 Madiun. This event invited the expert Dr. Ngadiso, M.Pd., from Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta as the presenter. He is one of the drafting team of Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia (KKNI) from PBI Association.

This event discussed about some entities related to curriculum and learning process. such as vision, mission, course objectives, basic competence, content and curriculum relevance, learning instruments, teaching procedures, teaching material, and improvement of learning outcomes. The targets in this activity were the lecturers of the department, the stakeholders, the alumni, and the students themselves. The purpose of this event was to improve the quality of the curriculum and the quality of graduates of the Department of English Teaching of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of UNIPMA.

Furthermore, this activity was expected to construct the curriculum which meets the vision and mission of UNIPMA and the requirement by the stakeholders. At last, it was committed by this department as an effort to gain better achievement.
