The 6th EDSA English Week 2017
The 6th EDSA English Week 2017 is an annual English Language competition held by the EDSA (English Department Students’ Association). This time, it consists of two competitions, namely English Debate Competition and English Olympiad. Both kinds of competition were held on November 25-26, 2017. Both competitions were aimed at high school / vocational high school students in East Java. The English Debate Competition uses the British Parliamentary System Debate, which was rarely seen in any debate competition in high school / vocational schools. In this contest, the 1st winner as well as the Best Speaker were the representatives from SMAN 2 Madiun, while the 2nd, 3rd and 4th champion were the representatives from SMAN 3 Madiun.
Meanwhile the English Olympiad is an English proficiency test competitions. This competition consists of 3 stages, namely Basic English Structure which tested 50 multiple choice questions to students, the second stage was Essay Writing, and the third stage was Short Speech. In this competition, 1st winner was SMAN 1 Ponorogo, 2nd winner was SMAN 3 Madiun and the 3rd winner was SMAN 2 Madiun. This activity is expected to increase the knowledge and experience of the students of SMA or SMK as well as to promote the institution especially in the region of Madiun and the surrounding towns.
