Training and Assistance in the Implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka for Elementary School Teachers in Kawedanan, Magetan  

The concept of Kurikulum Merdeka is an activity that creates a pleasant atmosphere in learning for both students and teachers. The implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka, in this case, in Elementary Schools enables the education units and teachers to unrestrictedly design school operational curricula and teaching modules. This is to facilitate learning in accordance to the level of students’ competence.

Based on interviews with the Kelompok Kerja Kepala Sekolah (K3S) in Kecamatan Kawedanan, Magetan as a partner, there are several problems regard to the Kurikulum Merdeka. They are including the unavailability of training and assistance; unexecuted of Kurikulum Merdeka, in particular by grade 2 and 5 elementary school teachers; the unlisted of learning differentiation in the lesson plan (RPP); and the inappropriate learning devices

Reflecting on this, it is deemed necessary to have maximum training and assistance regarding the Kurikulum Merdeka. LPPM UNIPMA assigned the team of Community Service (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PkM) of Dept. of English Education to carry out "Training and Assistance in the Implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka for Elementary School Teachers in Kecamatan Kawedanan, Magetan." The training was held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the PKG headquarter in Kawedanan, Magetan and attended by approximately 85 class teachers and the Principals of the Elementary School. The activity began with a presentation on the Kurikulum Merdeka by Mrs. Yatmi S. Pd, as the Supervisor in the Kawedanan, Magetan Regency. It was then continued by the presentation of material on "The Implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka in Elementary Schools" by Dr. Erlik Widiyani Styati, M.Pd. It proceeded by the PkM team consisting of Vita Vendityaningtyas, S. S, M. Pd, Rizqi Husaini, M. Pd, Puput Jianggimahastu Larastika Suryanto, M. Pd, Rahma Arlia Putri, and Citra Ayu Diah Pitaloka with the topic "Learning Media in the Application of Kurikulum Merdeka.” The participants could interact well by asking some questions about the difficulties in class. These can be assisted by using interesting media. In the learning media simulation, participants could convey ideas in their use, such as hand-puppets for teaching fables, pocket charts for classifying objects, and so on.

In the end, these efforts aim to carry out learning recovery in a better direction. In relation to 21st century learning, it will improve the quality of learning process and results.
